ARCHITECTURE/INTERIOR DESIGN: The Cutting Edge of Vidal Sassoon, Architectural Digest, April 2011

After attending Vidal Sassoon's 5-day "The ABC's of Cutting" course last month, at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica, I then met him the next week when he signed his recently released book, "Vidal: The Autobiography." I am now even more obsessed with this man and legend and cannot wait to see his new movie, "Vidal Sassoon The Movie: How One Man Changed the World With a Pair of Scissors." His story is remarkable as he went from being an East London Orphan to THE Hair God.

The above photos are from the April 2011 issue of Architectural Digest. Vidal Sassoon and his wife, Ronnie, share with us their restored modernist Richard Neutra home atop Mulholland Drive, filled with exquisite Italian and French mid-century modern furniture. The master of the modern haircut explains, "My whole work, beginning in the late 1950's, came from the Bauhaus," whose geometric, easy-maintenance haircuts sparked a revolution in hair. "It was all about studying the bone structure of the face, to bring out the character." He adds, "Architects have always been my heroes." And Vidal Sassoon is one of mine. Adore him. ♥

There is so much shifting going on in the world of fashion right now. Here is Anna Dello Russo at the Givenchy, Fall 2011 afterparty. (From Style.com): The rumor around Paris is that Riccardo Tisci is in the running to head up Dior. But at last night's after-show fête at L'Arc, it was all about Givenchy. Well, almost. "I think Riccardo deserves the [Dior] position," said a Balmain-clad Anna Dello Russo. "He's becoming a very mature artist. For me, Givenchy was the best show of the season so far."
