A few of my favorites from Balmain, Fall 2011. ♥
By now most probably have heard the news that designer, Christophe Decarnin, is out at Balmain after not attending his own Fall 2011 show at Paris fashion week. After minimalism took over the runways when Phoebe Philo took the reigns at Celine, Balmain's look seemed to be repeating past seasons. Although we cannot always believe what we read, there were also reports that Christophe Decarnin was unwell and seeking treatment in a mental hospital, which prevented him from attending the show. According to WWD, though, these were not the true reasons but more that differences between Decarnin and Balmain’s chairman and CEO Alain Hivelin had become unsolvable. It has now been reported that rumors and speculation about Decarnin’s mental health were originally exaggerated and the tensions brewing between the two men have been building for quite some time. During Decarnin's tenure, "Balmainia" was created and he took the brand to new heights. The new successor has yet to be announced.
